This tin is a tribute to who Jimmy was as a firefighter.

On it, you will find several elements that reflect the legacy and life he chose to leave behind. Jimmy carried an immense amount of pride, which he expressed through the passion of his life—firefighting. The truck represents the firehouse he was assigned to as a Captain, serving as a proud member of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire and IAFF Local 1. In the background, you’ll see the city skyline, honoring the place he served.

The Martains represent his hometown of Mars, Pennsylvania, and their helmets bear the number 42—the Adams Area Fire District which is the firehouse where he began. One of the many things Jimmy left with us, and something we truly believe in, is his saying: “I will see you on the fire floor.” The action depicted here reflects Jimmy doing exactly that—going to work.

Finally, a small but meaningful detail is the squirrel on the front bumper. Jimmy was well known for his passion for passing on knowledge through teaching and mentoring others in the fire service. During those “Jimmy talks,” you could cover a wide range of topics—often a little “squirrely,” but always meaningful.

Proceeds from this tin go towards sending firefighters to training across the nation. It was one of Jimmy's passions to get people outside of their first due area to experience different tactics, ideas, and perspectives to help them grow and become better firefighters.
